America's Voice: Will Newly-Minted Senator Al Franken Support Real Solutions on Immigration? | America’s Voice

A large growing majority of Americas want illegals to leave, and they aren't going to allow amnesty, or a path to citizenship, in any form.

That's just the way it is, and illegals have noone but themselves to blame.

Actually Buzzm1, every recent poll I've read, including from the well-respected and unbiased Pew, shows more more than 60 percent of Americans want comprehensive reform, including a path to legalization for those here illegally. That number has grown steadily over the past decade. Where are you getting your polling numbers to suggest "a large and growing majority of Americans want illegals to leave?" Please back up with facts or citations - thanks,

Is that why illegal immigration reform is referred to as the proverbial third-rail??

    MOST RECENT NATIONAL POLLS

A Rasmussen Report Poll conducted November 5, 2008 of 1,000 likely voters asked: "Is the government doing enough to secure the border?"

79% responded "no,"” it is not doing enough.
    10% responded "yes."
It also asked, "Which is more important: securing the border or legalizing undocumented workers?"

65% responded that gaining control of the border is more important.
26% responded that legalization is more important.
Rasmussen Report Poll conducted from October 24-25th of 800 likely voters found that:

51% opposed the DREAM Act (a form of amnesty for former and present illegal alien students) concept
68% believe the passage of the bill would encourage more illegal immigration in the future.
71% believe that illegal immigrants should not qualify for in-state tuition rates at colleges and universities.
77 % oppose making drivers' licenses available to illegal immigrants.

Americans, by a large majority, do not want illegals to remain in our United States. With increasing unemployment, as of tomorrow morning, it will be close to 15 million American workers who are unemployed.

All while 8 million illegals, illegally hold jobs that they illegally obtained.

That fact is weighing heavily on unemployed Americans, and it is only a matter of time before illegals are forced out of those jobs, by these same Americans.

After illegals leave our country, and return to their home countries, we will be better able to help them in their own countries, rather than have them bleed the social resources, of our country

Glad to hear that Sen. Franken (finally Sen.) might have the right idea.

Franken is family oriented and he would have to fake it hard trying to be a tough guy. He's not sending anyone who's already here back... except he will probably join the bandwagon when it comes to illegals who were convicted of a crime... I would guess even misdemeanors but that is yet to be determined.

The climate in the Senate is far different today, than it was when Franken made those statements. There are 18 Democratic Senators on the line in 2010, who voted against E-Verify. they will be lucky to survive.

There are also 4 Republicans who voted against E-Verify up for reelection in 2010. they are doomed.

Did you see where I.C.E. sent out notices to 625 employers to prepare for an E-Verify audit of the documentation some of their employees are working under.

Avid readers of Vibe Magazine will no doubt be weeping, as the magazine is set to shut down any and all operations immediately. Vibe Magazine had recently decreased circulation and had cut back work hours for all employees, and it seems even some money now can't head off the cessation of publication. The magazine began in 1993, started by music biz legend Quincy Jones, a guy who has worked with everyone from Ray Charles to Michael Jackson, as an alternative to magazines like Rolling Stone, and had been a very successful magazine. He has stated that he would like to keep Vibe magazine alive as an online journal, and many people would still line up quick cash to subscribe.

Is'nt enforcement only approach by the previous administration that caused the economic meltdown in the first place? People were debating it was going to hurt the economy if this problem was not approached using common sense policies in 2007 - the efforts failed. Finally when economy did go down because of enforcment only approach that followed,no body even talks about how the economy was hurt by the wrong approach in the first place.
Can only hope smart policies are made to promote the economic growth for the good of every one.
